Caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, chaired at the Grand Serail, a meeting devoted to following up on the Student Dollar file, in the presence of Ministers Ghazi Wazni and Charbel Wehbe, BDL Governor, Riad Salameh, ABL President, Salim Sfeir, ABL Board of Directors’ Member, Tannal Sabah, PCM Secretary General, Judge Mahmoud Makie, in addition to a delegation from the Association of Families of Lebanese Students Abroad, which included Sheikh Jihad Al-Abdallah, Rabih Kanj, Nayef Ghaith, Elie Freiha, Assaad Al-Zaher, Mohammad Al-Abdallah, Father Ziad Haddad, and Dalal Al-Akhras.
The meeting deliberated on practical and appropriate solutions to implement Law No. 193 issued by the Parliament, and which relates to the transfer of funds to Lebanese students abroad.
During the meeting, Premier Diab stressed that this issue constitutes a priority and requires solutions as soon as possible. He also pressed parties directly involved in the file to implement the law and oblige banks to transfer funds to Lebanese students abroad. The Association of Banks pledged to issue a statement today to announce the banks ’commitment to implementing the law.
