Caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, chaired in the evening at the Grand Serail a meeting attended by Ministers Zeina Akar, Ghazi Wazni, Raoul Nehme, Imad Hoballah, Ramzi Musharrafieh, Raymond Ghajar, Hamad Hassan and Abbas Mortada, Central Bank’s Governor, Riad Salameh, PCM Secretary General, Judge Mahmoud Makie, in addition to PM Advisor, Khodor Taleb.
The interlocutors were briefed on the discussions that took place during the Serail’s workshops held by Ministers with relevant sectors, under the supervision of Premier Diab, and on the extent to which there were compatible with the ministerial plans aimed at regulating import and subsidy bill out to ensuring ongoing protection of basic food and health products’ subsidies for as long as possible.
The participants' vision takes into account the following criteria:
- Keeping the bread price unchanged.
- Subsidizing essential, chronic and incurable diseases medicines.
- Maintaining staple food subsidies.
- Creating the conditions for promoting agricultural and industrial sectors.
- Examining oil bill reduction mechanism.
- Expediting the processing of the financial ration card.
This vision will be formulated based on an integrated and detailed approach will be developed within a week.
